Feedback to Yammer

Dear Yammer Team.

I would like to share my experience with you. I'm a CEO at a small company (25 people) in Vienna, Austria. Today i started a yammer account with 4 invitations. 8 hours later all people at the office have a yammer account, and most of them have jabber integration. And it took me just 5 minutes of my time. That's what i expect from an IT rollout 2.0 - so you guys rock! and the jabber integration rocks!

Digitalks

Ich habe am Di, 18.November das Vergnügen bei Digitalks zum Thema "Online Collaboration" vorzutragen. Freu mich schon. Es wird auch um Tools gehen (die sollen laut Digitalks Programm im Vordergrund stehen), ich werde neben der technischen Anwendung gerne auch auf unsere Erfahrungen beim Einsatz von Web 2.0 Werkzeugen in Unternehmen eingehen. Hier gibt es viel spannendes zu berichten - und ich freue mich schon auf eine rege Diskussion.

Polylog gewinnt Grimme Award

Gratulation dem Knallgrau Team hinter Polylog.tv die, wie soeben gerade erfahren, für Konzept und Gestaltung einen Grimme Award gewonnen haben. Und natürlich Gratulation an Kobalt Productions und Tita von Hardenberg für den mutigen Lead.

Redesign

Apple hat seiner Website nach Jahren ein Redisgn gegönnt. Neben der Tatsache, dass Bildschirme in den letzten 10 Jahren doch etwas größer geworden sind, und man sich nicht mehr an 800/600 Bildschirmen orientieren muss, hat sich vor allem die Navigation geändert.

Und: Da muss ich dem Helge wirklich recht geben, zweizeilige Tab-Navigationen sind einfach nicht der Weisheit letzter Schluss. Apple hat es verstanden, und YouTube hat es schon vor einiger Zeit eingeführt. Trotzdem kommen noch immer täglich neue Web 2.0 + Zeitungs-Designs mit diesem Navigations-Paradigma. Aber wenn man sich selbst dabei beobachtet ist die zweite Zeile eine absolute Experten-Navigation und man nützt sie nur bei Sites, die man sehr, sehr gut kennt und viel nutzt - und das ist nicht unbedingt ein Inidiz für besonders intuitive Navigation.

Die seitliche Navigation (vor allem diese nervige auf-zu klappen bei mouseover) finde ich dagegen eher nervig. Auch diese ungewichtete Dreispaltigkeit ist nicht gerade das übersichtlichste.

exciting news. what that means is that in difference to other vendors (xbox 360) it will be possible to use wii as a cheap open web setop box - that is state-of-the-art and well documented. hopefully they will also support flash and/or video/audio embeding. everybody (not having a contract with nintendo) will be able to provide special formats and content for wii - personaly i think surfin' on a tv is the more useful scenario than browsing on a (slow and tiny) mobile.

And i registered a test account, even i had to send over my credit card number. First of all: this is just a beautiful product. But: I don't want to sound to critical, but they should label it still BETA and cut the price in half - there are just some needed features missing (an upload client and some sort of folders/collections - i don't mean the hierachical windows tree structure, just a nice way to collect stuff, and i don't think "tags", or "labels" are the best way to do that). Anyway it's a great product with a lot of potential and worth to watch. And i'm absolutely sure it will get a lot of attention and good reviews.

mit der bitte, dass wir das doch bitte an unsere blogger verkaufen sollen (weil man damit angeblich auch bloggen kann) und wir dann ganz reich werden ...

sieht aus wie der versuch, picasa als webapplikation nachzubauen - und das ist eigentlich gar nicht so schlecht gelungen. aber ansonsten wirkt das ganze recht unspannend, obwohl das viele darg-and-drop in den online video demos doch recht beeindruckt. am meisten stört, dass man fotos nicht wirklich massenhaft hochladen kann (ausser als .zip file via HTTP Webformular). Die Hauptfrage die sich mir aber stellt - warum ist das eine online applikation??
